Demand is growing faster than the grid

  • 2026–2029

The grid operator expects a firm-capacity shortfall in every year from 2026 to 2029.

  • ~60 GW

In the late afternoon, as the sun sets, load climbs by about 60 GW in six hours.

  • 38 GW

Data centres have already requested 38 GW of grid access.

  • < 1 GW

Installed data-centre capacity in Brazil is still below 1 GW.
